Saint Andrew’s Calendar

Remember….

  

January 28 -- Annual Congregation Meeting

We will worship together at one 9:30 am service.

The Annual Meeting begins at 11:00 am in 301/Fellowship Hall.

Lunch will be served (thank you Bryant and Vanessa Wilkie!)

Childcare is available in the Youth Room (thank you to our high school youth for providing this service!)

At the Annual Meeting, we will:

~ elect people to four 3-year Congregation Council positions, one 2-year position, and one 1-year position,

~ approve a 2018 Current Fund budget (the proposed budget is on pages 58-59 of the Annual Report),

~ recognize Quiet Servants, and

~ hear updates about ministry and mission.
Every voice and vote counts!

Dorcas Circle will raffle a beautiful quilt, with proceeds going to Lutheran World Relief.

The Finance Committee hosted two Discipleship Hour sessions to discuss the 2018 budget and answer questions. You can view videos of these presentations at these links: January 14 presentation, and the January 21 presentation

Communion Bread
Everyone is invited to bake bread used in the Eucharist on Sunday mornings. You can sign up online for a specific Sunday in 2018. AED and CPR Training
Wednesday, March 7, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon, 302/Fellowship Hall South
An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and CPR training will be held at Saint Andrew’s on Wednesday March 7. Saint Andrew’s staff and Health and Wholeness Ministry will be renewing their certification. Congregation members are also invited, the cost is just $25 per person. Please let Facilities Manager Kurt Lutterman, kurt@salchome.org or 425-746-2529, know if you plan to attend.

 

Holden Village July 15-20, 2018
Saint Andrew’s has reserved 40 spots for Holden Village for July 15-20. If you’re interested in joining the group, we’ll add you to the wait list. Contact Fellowship Coordinator Sherry Grindeland, sherry@salchome.org or 425-746-2529.

 

Wreath Bowls
If you made an Advent wreath at the Advent Fair, please return the bowl to Sherry Grindeland in the church office. We reuse the bowls each year.

Health and Wholeness Ministry Program
Saturday, January 27, 1:00 pm
Health and Wholeness Ministry, as part of its annual planning retreat, invites the congregation to a special presentation from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 27. The program is a speaker from the Bellevue Fire Department, Andy Adolphson, Battalion Chief and Director of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) division. His topic is the current opiate epidemic and how it impacts our community. Contact Parish Nurse Karen Grams for more information.

 

Prayer Partners for Lent Sign-ups

Prayer Partners for Lent is an opportunity to enrich our prayer life by praying for someone else and making connections within our worship community. Sign up to participate January 28 and February 4. Prayer Partners will receive an envelope with their Prayer Partner’s name on February 11. Pray for someone during Lent and wait until April 8 to find out who the secret Prayer Partners are at our “Reveal”.

 

Cards for MaaSAE Students
Jean Wahlstrom and Marvin Kananen are traveling to Tanzania on January 29. If you sponsor a student in Tanzania and want to send a card (no packages) addressed to your student with Jean and Marvin, please give it to them no later than Sunday, January 28.

 

SOUPer Bowl of Caring
Sunday, February 4, Narthex
On Super Bowl Sunday, we will have a special food collection to tackle hunger in our community. Special collection boxes and soup pots will be in the Narthex – let’s fill them! All food and money donated will go to the Hopelink Food Bank to provide needed nutrition to our hungry neighbors. Download a flyer with more information and a shopping list.

 

Healing Prayer Ministry Gathering
Sunday, February 4, 12:30 pm, 322/Conference Room
The Healing Prayer Ministers will meet for a gathering of sharing and supporting. This is for all who are currently Healing Prayer Ministers and for those who are interested in serving in this way. Lunch provided. Contact Parish Nurse Karen Grams or Cheryl Jurrus for more information.

 

W.E.B.S. (Women’s Evening Book Study) Winter Session
Wednesdays, through February 7, 7:00 pm, 322/Conference Room
We are learning about India, and discussing marriage, society, women’s roles, cuisine, and other issues depicted by the author in the book selection for the Winter Session for W.E.B.S: The Space Between Us by Thrity Umrigar. Outreach Opportunities….

~  Corner of Blessing: In January, we are collecting vegetable oil (24-32 ounce sizes.)

~  Donate food for the SOUPer Bowl of Caring on February 4 (donations go to Hopelink)

~  Donate box tops for the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission School. Place box tops in the envelope on the bulletin board in the Narthex.

~  Deliver meals for Chicken Soup Brigade on Thursday afternoons  

~  Provide financial support for students at MaaSAE Girls Lutheran Secondary School (MGLSS)

~  Donate items for Lutheran World Relief, Compass Housing Alliance, and Congregations for the Homeless. Donations can be brought to the baskets in the Narthex.
