“And (Jesus) took
them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.” (Mark 10:16)
are a blessing. It is the place of the Church to provide both the safety and
security to ensure the health and the promise held within the life of each
boy and girl. Jesus taught that and led the earliest Church to be a safe
haven, especially for women, children, and those who had no mentors and
guides in an often hostile culture.
ago, Saint Andrew’s was branded as a “Safe Place” by our Congregation
Council at the recommendation of our Outreach and Servant Ministries
Committee. One of the first faith communities so branded in partnership
with Friends of Youth, an agency involved in the support of families and
children. As a “Safe Place,” a child who appears on our campus unsheltered
is assured of a place within a short period of time. Other “Safe Places”
include Metro Buses, King Co.Libraries, and most Emergency Rooms.

Separation, in any form, threatens, first of all, those whom Jesus held and
blessed. The calling of the Church, in the name of Jesus, is to be bold in
securing all God’s children that they might know the gift of peace, love,
in the words of Paul, “(God) destined us for adoption as his children
through Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 1:5a). As God’s own beloved ones, we are

Bible School (VBS)

VBS is being co-hosted by Saint Andrew’s and Our Savior Lutheran Church,
with the theme of God’s Gardeners: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Respond
Classes are for 4-year-olds (birth date between 9/1/2013 and
8/31/2014) through youth entering 7th grade. Older youth and adults are
needed as volunteers.
Extended care from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm is available for Saint
